Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. (Proverbs 13:12 KJV)
Unrelenting disappointment leaves you heartsick, but a sudden good break can turn life around. (Proverbs 13:12 MSG)
Pain will make you FORGET about everything except your pursuit for relief [My Personal testimony]. How do you move beyond the moment that pain occurs and respond in FAITH rather than react in FEAR.
- Fear reactions are emotional
- Fear reactions send you on the defensive which can suddenly turn offensive
- Fear reactions prolong the PAIN. The more you FOCUS on PAIN, the more it HURTS. [Child looks at scratch and sees blood, you are convinced that a Kind was cut off. Doctor says look away while receiving shot. Why?]
FAITH on the other hand, responds to PAIN.
- Faith responds based on anticipation of healing
- Faith responds based on understanding that HEALING can at times be a PROCESS...but it’s inevitable!
- Faith responds from a disciplined mental posture (renewed mind) that there is something on the other side of PAIN that is going to bless my life!
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18 NKJV
7 “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. 8 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; 9 we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— 10 always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. 18 For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” II Corinthians 4:7-10, 16-18 NKJV
PROMISES ARE RECEIVED BY FAITH
Genuine FAITH (sperma of the spirit realm), pure FAITH - faith that is not tainted with selfishness.
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6 NKJV)
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Romans 10:17 NKJV)
6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, (I Peter 1:6-7 NKJV)
This kind of FAITH, can only be produced after your heart has been truly CIRCUMCISED (fire, trial, test). Circumcision of the heart is the cutting away of the actions, behaviors, and attitudes that hinder INTIMACY with the FATHER.
For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh, (Philippians 3:3 NKJV)
You must begin today declaring over your life, and meditating within your heart...that you will no longer put CONFIDENCE in the flesh. Quit pleading for Ishmael to live!
18 And Abraham said to God, “Oh, that Ishmael might live before You!” (Genesis 17:18 NKJV)
THE PROMISE IS GREATER THAN THE PAIN!
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. (I Corinthians 10:13 NKJV)
Quit rehearsing and re-living disappointment that is a result of others who failed you in some way. Wishing it had not happened. Wishing you didn't have to go through that. Quit saying "Why me?" and sober up to this question...."Why Not You?!!" God was always in control.... He was then, as He is now, working all those things together for your GOOD! Stop it! You are not the only one who has been through it! Your complaints have validity and merit if noone else had overcome these things. You sound good in your private conversations with yourself and others, until you talk to someone who has been through what you have been through and worse. And they made it! And they received the PROMISE!
Sometimes our PAIN is self inflicted! If you are going to embrace the promises over your life, you must discontinue cutting yourself. Stop pulling out your own hair. Stop overdosing on the medicine of bitterness and unforgiveness!
“Pain never justifies your POSITION when your position is contrary to the PRINCIPLES of the Word (Kingdom).” Apostle Kevin K. Barber, Sr.
You can't talk to some people about the "woe is me" stories. These men endured the pain, suffering, conflict, rejection, etc. and stood through it and as a result, received the PROMISE:
- Joseph - (Genesis 37-50) It took 20 years (17 years old when received dream; 37 years old when stood as second in command to Pharaoh and saw the dream fulfilled)
7 And God sent me before you to preserve a posterity for you in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance. 8 So now it was not you who sent me here, but God; and He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt. (Genesis 45:7, 8 NKJV)
- Job - Lost everything...family, fortune, faith...before being confronted by God about his attitude and pride of heart. After praying for his friends who he was no doubt offended with, he received double!
5 “I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You. 6 Therefore I abhor myself, And repent in dust and ashes.” (Job 42:5-6 NKJV)
And the Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before. (Job 42:10 NKJV)
“Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.” James 5:11 NKJV
- Jesus - Went through a week of intense preparation for His moment of suffering, which involved rejection from family, rejection from the disciples, and a beat down like none other. He then went to Hell for 3 days and nights to pay for our sin and to be resurrected by the Father. He went through all of this to receive the PROMISE.
1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. 4 You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin. (Hebrews 12:1-4 NKJV)
Endure (Patience) - hoop-om-en'-o: to stay under (behind), i.e. remain; figuratively, to undergo, i.e. bear (trials), have fortitude, persevere:
You must learn to ENDURE (PATIENCE) the things that cause PAIN in your life because your PROMISE is GREATER!
35 Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. 36 For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise: (Hebrews 10:35-36 NKJV)
Patience - hoop-om-on-ay': cheerful (or hopeful) endurance, constancy:-- patient continuance (waiting).
His NAME is on the line with the PROMISE He has given you. His NAME is only as good as His ability to keep His WORD!
I will worship toward Your holy temple, And praise Your name For Your lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified Your word above all Your name. (Psalms 138:2 NKJV)
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. (Hebrews 10:23 NKJV)
“A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world.” John 16:21 NKJV
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the promise comes...!
- Your Healing
- Your children serving loving and serving the Lord
- Your restored marriage
- Your dream job
- That promotion You have been waiting for
- Your financial situation turns around (Debt Eliminated!)
- Your first child!
CLOSE: Whatever you are facing, don’t stop declaring the double! No shame and no confusion in 2018! Your delay is not a DENIAL!
“Instead of your shame you shall have double honor, And instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double; Everlasting joy shall be theirs.” Isaiah 61:7 NKJV
11 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. (Hebrews 6:11-12 NKJV)
11 And now I want each of you to extend that same intensity toward a full-bodied hope, and keep at it till the finish. 12 Don’t drag your feet. Be like those who stay the course with committed faith and then get everything promised to them. (Hebrews 6:9-12 MSG)
